Compliance Risk Management

We are pleased to announce the upcoming COMPLIANCE RISK MANAGEMENT Regional Workshop to be held at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi, Fiji from 17th – 20th June 2019.

The objective of the workshop is to introduce participants to:
i. Compliance Risk Management and Compliance Improvement Strategies;
ii. Requirements to introduce a sound and effective compliance risk management plan in a tax administration context;
iii. The Five (5) consecutive steps of the compliance risk management cycle;
iv. The Importance and use of data- internal information, exchange of information and third-party information for risk management and profiling;
v. Understanding what influences taxpayer behavior;
vi. Different tools and treatment strategies used to ensure that non-compliance with tax law is kept to a minimum and that audit is only one of many possible risk treatment strategies;
vii. Developing an understanding and appreciation of how tax administrations may need to adapt to make their own modern compliance strategies work;
viii. Setting up a governance framework to oversee the design and implementation of compliance improvement strategies; and
ix. Sharing experiences and information with other regional participants on their country compliance improvement success stories and challenges in adopting a risk-based approach to tax compliance.

The workshop is a joint initiative with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Center (PFTAC) and the PITAA Secretariat.
