01 of 2021: SESSION 4: Improving Compliance in the Large Taxpayer Segment Virtual Regional Workshop

March 3, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Revenue Administrations (RAs) have recently been challenged by the effects of COVID-19 and are striving to maintain revenue collections in challenging circumstances. Besides ensuring the safety of staff and taxpayer during the pandemic many countries are sharpening processes by introducing efficiencies to ensure revenue collections are maintained. One such area is a renewed focus on safeguarding revenue collection from the largest taxpayers as in almost every country, a relatively small number of taxpayers collectively account for the largest portion of tax revenues.  This revenue concentration poses a particularly significant risk in a crisis, since a decline in compliance by just a few large taxpayers can lead to large amounts of forgone revenue.

To improve compliance in large taxpayer sector, this workshop is to investigate potential areas of further improvement and how the Compliance Model can be adapted for those taxpayers in large taxpayer segment.

This is a joint initiative with the Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Center (PFTAC) and the Pacific Islands Tax Administrators Association (PITAA).
