The Pacific Islands Tax Administrators Association (PITAA) Secretariat has strengthened its capacity to prepare high-quality progress reports, and to demonstrate the impact of regional initiatives and development partner-funded programmes, through a two-day Progress Reporting Training held in Suva, Fiji, from 3-4 November 2026.
Facilitated by Danielle Rossi, Deputy Team Leader at Pacific Regional Economic Support Plus (PRES+), the training brought together PITAA Secretariat staff responsible for programme implementation, finance, communications, and organisational operations.

Participants included PITAA Head of Secretariat, Petero Maivucevuce; Pacific One Stop Shop (POSS) Lead, Mereia Waqa; Corporate Services and Capacity Development Lead, Madhvi Devi; Finance Specialist, Azida Khan; and Communications Specialist, Akansha Narayan.
A key focus of the programme was the development of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Annual Progress Report and the Pacific One Stop Shop (POSS) Annual Progress Report. Through practical discussions and working sessions, participants reviewed programme performance, examined reporting requirements, and refined approaches to documenting results, lessons learned, challenges, and future priorities.

Sessions covered key elements of effective programme reporting, including monitoring and evaluation, governance, financial management, stakeholder engagement, communications and visibility, gender equality, disability inclusion, climate resilience, safeguarding, and risk management. Participants also explored ways to strengthen evidence-based reporting and better communicate the value and outcomes of PITAA’s work across the Pacific.
The programme provided an opportunity for Secretariat staff to collaborate on key deliverables while enhancing their understanding of performance measurement, organisational learning, and results-based reporting. Discussions encouraged reflection on progress to date and identified opportunities to improve internal processes and the communication of programme outcomes.
PITAA Head of Secretariat, Petero Maivucevuce, said the training provided a valuable opportunity for staff to enhance their knowledge and skills.
“With the two DFAT grant agreements currently coordinated by the PITAA Secretariat, the training has come at an important time, equipping our team with practical tools to plan, monitor and report on progress more consistently and to better demonstrate the value of the support we receive from our development partners. Effective reporting is essential to demonstrate the outcomes and impact of our programmes, supporting accountability to our stakeholders, and informing future planning and decision-making. The training has strengthened our ability to capture and communicate our achievements in a meaningful and evidence-based way,” he said.
The knowledge and practical insights gained through the programme will support the PITAA Secretariat in preparing comprehensive progress reports that accurately reflect programme results and contribute to the continued advancement of regional tax administration initiatives across the Pacific.
PITAA acknowledges DFAT and Pacific Regional Economic Support Plus (PRES+) for the training and valuable expertise and guidance with Secretariat staff throughout the two-day programme.
